Plymouth Argyle got their League One promotion campaign back on track with a 2-0 win over Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
After a barren first period, Argyle’s star striker Ryan Hardie blocked the visitor’s attempted long ball from the second half kick off and pounced on the rebound, lifting the ball over the on-rushing Charlton ‘keeper.
That’s how it stayed until the 87th minute when Joe Edwards picked up the ball in his own half. The Argyle captain galloped almost to the opposition penalty box before laying it off to sub Callum Wright just inside the area. The substitute cut it back to Niall Ennis waiting on the edge of the six yard box and he made no mistake, firing into the bottom corner to make the tie safe.
The Pilgrims, who remain second in the table, are at home again on Tuesday night, when fifth-placed Derby County make the long trip to Devon.
